Religiously motivated “political” striving is all right by me. The Separation of Church and State applies to money passed between Institutional churches and State Organizations.

I don't see anything wrong with churches advocating for positions on issues that relate to the faith priorities of the faith of Jesus Christ. I don't approve of churches advocating for particular candidates or parties. But when the issue is a kingdom issue the Church should speak up.

The Politics of MLKing, vs Adrian Rogers...

Postby Stephen Fox » Fri Jan 09, 2015 6:27 pm

King tackled history and brought the best of Exodus liberation theology to the promise Abraham Lincoln's America.

Adrian Rogers was a stooge in the public square for the John Birch Society. See Robert Wuthnow's Rough Country before you dismiss the latest Foxism.

That said Al Sharpton is not MLking, and Jesse AJackson has been a disappointment of late.

Keep the history correct, in proper context when approaching these matters.

I hope Sand and all take in the movie Selma the next few days informed by the great conversations this last week on NPR, Fresh Air especially.
