You can tell, from Stephen's post, inserting yet another alleged connection (Roger Goodell's ties to the Nixon Administration
) his real intention. That should be deleted since it isn't relevant to his post.
Likewise, the reference in the article he cited, mentioning the Catholic church's refusal to ordain women as clergy, is an attempt to make a point and create an impression without having facts. No wonder it appealed to Stephen.
The apostolic writers of the New Testament made a pretty clear case, and drew a pretty clear line between the value of the cultural and intellectual influence of the world, with its origins purely in human thinking, and the revealed wisdom of God, which the Bible records. "Wifely submission" and women's roles in the church are frequently misinterpreted by those who insist on their practice, but that doesn't invalidate the principles, nor remove the blessing of God on those who "rightly divide" the word of truth, and practice those principles as they are described, and are intended. Attempting to make a connection between Ray Rice and the SBC is demagoguery.
If you want to make a connectional case, Rice grew up in a holiness church where his Aunt Denise is pastor, so perhaps churches with female clergy help breed violence against women because they don't follow Biblical teaching.
Stephen, you've proven the SBC to be right.
