Russ Moore and the Benedict Option

Author Dreher invoked Moore's name twice as a way forward in a stellar panel over the weekend on booktv.org

Meanwhile I have taken up the conversation with Rod on his facebook wall.

My first inclindation is dismiss all this as a revamped version of Timothy George's Manhattan Declaration as First Things Mag is a driving force, but Michael Wear Response on Booktv elevates its significance somewhat even with my misgivings with all the attention given to Moore.

See my Chickens Comin Home to Roost Blog

But also give this link careful consideration in tandem with Booktv which is the best of the best.

Religion dispatches has also taken exception to some elements of Dreher's thesis.

Todd Starnes on Book TV dissing Hillary

Did not mention Russ Moore, but clearly gonna be a problem for Moore in the SBC

Everything I know about Todd Starnes suggests he is prototype of the serpentine Paul Pressler. Native of Memphis also a disciple of the demagogue Adrian Rogers.

Todd claims the cosmopolitan savvy of Erma Bombeck, Art Buchwald and Lewis Grizzard in his Cspan 2 booktv weekend platform.

Mendacity and distortions, Bad for America as Ted Koppel would say

SBC and abortion

Postby Stephen Fox » Sun May 20, 2018 3:59 pm

From NY times on Ireland

Two of the most harrowing “hard cases” were the 1992 “X case,” when a 14-year-old girl who was raped by the father of a friend and became suicidal was barred from leaving the country to get an abortion, and the 2012 case of Savita Halappanavar, first reported by Kitty Holland in The Irish Times.

Savita, a 31-year-old Indian immigrant and dentist who was married to an Indian engineer, went to a Galway hospital in distress the day after her baby shower. She was told that her 17-week-old fetus could not be saved.

Over several days, she begged the medical staff to remove the baby to save her life as she developed every symptom of septic shock. But, because the staff members could still detect a heartbeat, they would not do it because, as one midwife told her, “This is a Catholic country.” Savita died four days after her baby girl, whom she named Prasa, was stillborn.
