Similariities of Exxon's obfuscation strategy of the 90's to the tobacco companies of Jesse Helms in the Senate.
One more indication of how Pressler and Helms were made for each other in the SBC Takeover.
Bill Moyers was talking about it before his God and Politics documentary of PBS 88.

Lot more to come from this in the next year, analogies to Pressler's wider agenda emanating from the SBC; as well as similar tactics.
Hoping Chandler Davidson and Moyers; Charles Kimball and Curtis Freeman will pursue all the SBC implications.
I imagine Babs Baugh will be reading soon. Something Truett Seminary can sink its teeth into right away. I hear Emory's Joe Crespino, and Billy Graham's recent analyst Steven Miller are already considering the implications.
Robert Parham, Pat Anderson and John Pierce should already have calls to not only Moyers, but also President Carter, Robert Caro and Tom Edsall.

This is significant. I broached Crespino's name last week in Americus in a Breakout session with Dolphus Weary of Missission Mississippi. UVA's Charles Marsh was in the room as was his father Robert, former pastor of 2nd Ponce de leon in Atlanta. Elder Marsh was Charles Pickering's pastor in Laurel in early 70's.

They are organized efforts in the church that one side or the other believe the other side viewpoint is sinful. You wanted examples I gave you some.

And BTW, LGBT activists do not so much organize to change viewpoints within churches. More likely they form LGBT friendly churches like the “Metropolitan” Churches.

But let’s quit this squabbling. I’m sick today and doctor says to rest.

Kinda brings it up to date.

Pressler's grandfather was a VP of Exxon. There is a history with Houston Oil Community it appears Pettibone and Keith, with which they are unfamiliar. I had a question to President Carter in 93 in Bham that kinda capsules it, based on Tom Edsall's New Politics of Inequality.

And I have trying to gouge somebody for sometime to fill in the blank spots of Pressler's history in Austin; or his family history vis a vis Carlyle Marney in the 50's and then explicitly how he fought James Dunn and Jimmy Allen, or resented their work for Carter in 76
