Susan Komen Foundation fiasco

Postby Chris » Tue Feb 07, 2012 7:17 pm

I learned last week, while listening to a right-wing talk show that Karen Handel (Vice-Pres for Public Policy with Komen- Foundation) had been a anti-abortion candidate for Governor of the great State of Georgia. Georgia had the good sense to elect someone else.

Handel then went on to a job with the Komen Foundation with an agendum aimed at ceasing Komen's support for Planned Parenthood to do breast exams (NOT abortions). This whole mess was Handel's doing. The Komen Foundation suffered what may be irreparable damage.

Today, Handel did the right thing and resigned.

See the ADF discussion at SBC Trends. I have many links there, or google Hissy fit by Casey Mattox on Planned Parenthood.
Obama made a politically tin eared decision on the contraceptive Catholic chat, and Komen may pale in comparison to that.
Bottom line for me to date is Sally Rinker is tight with Bush 41 and 43 and the politics of the decision at her level is most hypocritical, given almost all the Bush women are prochoice.
SBC Pink Bible is junk
"I'm the only sane {person} in here." Doyle Hargraves, Slingblade
"Midget, Broom; Helluva campaign". Political consultant, "Oh, Brother..."
