Okay, I couldn't resist logging on just to stir things up. And question why the True Faithful aren't lisping their new catechism with the same relish and glee as Mitt(ens) Romney about "corporations are people."

:-)

This sets up endless fun and games for we, the hell-bound lefties who take little seriously. :-)

Do they have some chapters and verses dealing with the salvation opportunities of corporations? Can Mittens go through proxy baptisms to "save" all the obsolete entities that came and went before "personhood?" :-)

Will Baptists enter the fray against Catholics and mainliners over baptizing infant corporations or will said corporations have to wait until they're old enough to have gone through a stock split or two to be considered adult enough for believer's baptism?

Just too much fun. :P

Okay, I'll go now. :-)

Mitt Romney misspoke

Postby Stephen Fox » Mon Aug 15, 2011 3:32 pm

And we all should cut him some slack for that.

The better line of pursuit is have Frank Page and Jim Demint and Charles Pickering in conversation with the daily exposes at www.religiondispatches.org on the faith of Bachmann and Rick Perry.

Do public school teachers across the SBC really want to continue to fund this gunk with their CP dollars??

At least one republican is not jumping on the corporations-are-people-too bandwagon.

Could it be that Ron is not taking $$s from the corporations for campaigning? Yep that is true.

All individual contributors.
Could it be that Ron doesn't plan to be beholding to his corporate donors and bases his agenda on other principles? I think so.

Could it be that the MSM/Cable has generally ignored his good showing in Iowa? Yep, nary a mention in today's USA Today article and a putdown at that.
Is that an accident? Nope!

Now I do not like his libertarianism either, but he has good stances on ending the corptocracy influence/lobbying and getting out of our overseas adventures. 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Still looking for a three-for-three person.

Oh, welcome back Jane.

I really do wonder, if corporations are persons, does that mean they are individually and corporately responsible to God for all they do?

I think "Catwoman" has a great sense of humor and has cut to the core of corporate pretense!!!

Just as in the pretense that Baptists can't do anything about sexual preditors / Catholics quietly move them to another parish----Corporations pay their executives as kings--even though they led them to the brink of financial disaster!

The problem right now is Greed and Love of Money. They have the legal right to keep 2 sets of books--one for the IRS and another for investors. Which one actually tells the absolute truth? NEITHER!!!!

They want to lure investors to their greed and seduce them just like sexual preditors. That likeable man in the pulpit is smooth and affable and loves to hug the most lovely ladies coming past at the front door. The fat ones get a cheek press. The curvy ones get a full body hug which lasts 3 times as long as the fat lady got. Undertakes do the same approach!!!

Corporations and their greed place multi-millions of job overseas to make Wal Mart shoppers happy with the "Rollbacks." If you notice at year endm the container truck cubicles are all over Wal Mart's parking lots---so they don't count as store inventory as they figure their taxes.

These days corporations get a priviledge working people DO NOT = no taxes to pay!!!!

If corporations are persons, can they be baptized and put on the rolls of churches? Do they count in the US Census? If so, we missed a lot of them for census purposes. If they are persons, should they not pay personal property taxes?

IF corporations are persons, should they do Federal Prison time for all the violations of SEC rules of late which led to this economic mess?????

Can they be put in with the Prison population so they can get it in the rear hole like they have given it to their investors???

Most people I know have lost around 40% of the portfolio 4 years ago. Those who had their safety net of investment in government bonds had gotten a 10% robbery in the last 2 weeks.

It seems lawyers and tax accountants have been paid highly to rob with a pen rather than a gun!!!!

So who should go to jail and be prosecuted???

This is a belated second try; my first attempt on my wife's 'puter got swallered up . . .

I give Romney a little slack on the "corporations are people" gaff. I think he meant simply that corporations are made up of people -- though one reporter/commentator switched his words to say that "people are corporations."

I have long opined (perhaps herein) that money keeps making a repeated round-trip between and among people's pockets. Money has meaning and worth only when it belongs to somebody whose contribution to society has been deemed worthy, mistakenly or not, of remuneration. And when we dispense money, it is used to buy somebody's time, effort, or expertise. Money doesn't buy cars. Instead, it is spread among such folks as salesmen, franchisers, manufacturers (and their union member affiliates), and even to the miners who dig the ore out of the ground that ultimately becomes fenders and bumpers.
Everybody gets a piece of the action as the money is distributed, and re-distributed, in a never-ending whirl.

So Mitt was right (at least, this time). Corporate taxes, whether they create or reduce jobs, are subtracted from the pockets of stock-holders, employees, and even retirees.

Corporations are people, despite the plethora of jokes we have made concerning the inappropriate use of words by Romney, who didn't explain further . . .
It is error only, and not truth, that shrinks from inquiry. -- Thomas Paine

Ed---you are correct in the sense of becoming a legal entity.

It still doesn't seem to allow them to be handcuffed and put in prison for lying to investors!!!!

They seem to have no conscience when it comes to paying taxes in the US nor hiring laborers here either. I guess they are "people" except for having no heart nor conscience!!!!

Ed---

So how much have you or your friends lost in the Stock Market?
Has any of the bailout money trickled down to you or those same friends???
Did you enjoy the 10% reductions in value of Treasuries?

All the product of corporate ownership of politicians / cooking their books / reducing US workforce over GREED / PAYING LITTLE OR NO TAXES!!!!
