Yes, they are a typical family with typical problems. But I thought the "family values" candidates were perceived as better than the rest of us.

It is a day of TOTAL PRETENSE on the part of most political candidates---the church as well!

I watched Ms. Palin's show about hunting on National Geographic. When you listened to the mother / child dialogue between her and her daughters, it was quite apparant they had little respect for their mother!

I have seen enough already about Palin / Newt Gingrich / and other politicians who jumped on Bill Clinton with both feet on charges of sexual impropriety. What a bunch of pretense and waste of time with people who walk on clay feet pointing a finger more than harshly to keep the spotlight off them!

The favorite pastime of Baptists and Conservatives these days is---- "Confessing the sins of others!!!"

Depends on politics. This certainly shows how high the level of hypocrisy is when politics are involved. There's a passage in the book of Deutoronomy that talks about stoning rebellious children, and I think this kind of rank disobedience to their parents stated values would qualify. But Palin is able to say and do the kinds of things to dupe a lot of people into thinking she's one of them, despite the moral failings of the family God put her in charge of, and she gets a pass on this. But let a liberal politicians child act up, and boy, they're ready to point to them as an example of how the world is going to hell in a handbasket.

This thread should be entitled "cheap shots." Kicking people, obviously with great glee, must be a lot of fun, even when they endure circumstances beyond their control. All parents here are invited to take a look at your extended families and then take another cheap shot.

Just as soon as one becomes a "perfect creature without blimishes"----his child gets arrested or drunk of gets someone pregnant / is the one knocked up.

All us are imperfect and raise imperfect children. Let me quickly say, my son had no criminal record to become now a Chief in the USCG Avation Unit in Oregon and, by the grace of God and good contraceptive methods, did not get a girl pregnant! He is raising 2 very obedient and well-behaved children.

My daughter was the same although she could pretend perfection far greater than her younger brother! When I raised the paddle to spank her, she was wise enough to emit great wailing immediately---it still didn't get her off!!! She has been through a divorce, but for very good reasons of abuse. Her 4 sons, now are another matter. In their anguish over this divorce and a father who no longer wants them on his weekend----they have gotten in their share of trouble of late---but not enough to get completely kicked out of any summer activities----almost, but not quite!!!!
