Jim---

Just stating in simple and clear terms what you and other Conservative Republicans keep saying ad nauseum!!!!

When you describe Obama as the "great leader" are you sure you are not confusing him with King George Bush who said: "The office of President would be so much easier if it were a Dictatorship---as long as I was the Dictator!" ("Worse Than Watergate" by John Dean)

Oops---"The dear leader."

That sounds just a derrogatory though!!!! Your explaination makes it even more so!

Is President Obama the only one tearing you out of your saddle????

I thought we had a Democracy and changing leadership with each election. Man, I must be seeing foreign newscasts each night as people talk past one another over the last 20 years and Republicans enjoy a continued failed economy in hopes it gives them an advantage in 2012.

We have already had economic failure over the last 4 years----2 Bush / 2 Obama. Many previous years of supposed "tricky--er trickle-down economics" seem to have hit a dam when the money trickles up rather than down and jobs go overseas.

I think it could be more accurately described as a "rich-get-richer" economics!!!!

In rich countries like the USA, food shortages mean food prices go up.
In poor countries, food shortages mean famine (you know, 'famine' = death by starvation).

Food shortages are what is wrong with the economy.

Droughts cause food shortages.

The end of CLEAN ENERGY is gone. The fossil fuels that God spent 800 Million years creating, the
easy (clean) ones to exploit have been pulled out. Yet the world's demands continue to increase.
So it will be dirty energy, the future fossil fuels.

On the earth, energy shortages mean food shortages in all countries.
In rich countries like the USA, food shortages mean food prices go up.
In poor countries, food shortages mean famine (you know, 'famine' = death by starvation).

I had a most interesting discussion last week while riding our Ferry with a geologist involved in oil exploration. He said essentially the same thing!

One of his most interesting observations was the number of his kind who were let go some years ago as the industry saw how reduced their "future prospects" of discovering new oil sources had deminished! They don't spend large amounts of money on prospecting when their gold min is running out.

I just hope they start focusing more on alternative sources of energy to make life more comfortable for mankind here on a blue ball floating in space with finite resources. We all must eat / drink / breath / defacate to live. Even a dog does not poop in his own bed!

Today, the dear leader threatened that the Social Security checks may not go out soon if his demands are not met. This is about as low as it goes but it says a lot about the man elected to manage this country. Nothing would please him more than for the checks not to go out, given his now eminently obvious effort to make everyone in this country dependent upon government for everything – Socialism! The public knows better than this, a bald scare tactic designed especially to scare the bejesus out of old people and veterans. It’s a sleazy political ploy, beneath contempt. It practically guarantees that businesses will not hire people, another blessing toward socialism, since Obama has made the economy his personal vehicle to destroy.

ET & Jim---

Both you guys are straining at gnats to change the focus from Republican greed!!!

The tax system was "fixed" by them and the working middle class is now the bearer of the burden.

As a small business owner I am bearing a burden of 30% of earnings pre-4 years ago. My pay comes when people decide to spend money on trees which need a fix. They know it needs to be done, but gas prices / reduced wages / threat of jobs lost is even affecting my N. Raleigh customers in multi-million dollar homes!!! Those folks have done well, but they have done it running businesses which have been successful in the past or participating in large Corporations in Research Triangle Park.

When this mess gets to booming Atlanta or Raleigh, it is serious!!!

Why don't you both get more serious with concrete suggestions as to how we solve it? Your blame on Obama is rediculous and it didn't happen overnight. How about analyzing it back to Reagan, if you please!!!!!

The above article looks a both sides---conservative / liberal--Republican / Democrat---as to what is going on.

It won't let me copy and paste its conclusions, but they make great sense to me.

ET---

I have no gripes with what the article says. Right now I am sitting with nothing to do because people enjoyed their July 4th and are not calling for new work on trees.

The problem, as I see it, is no flow of cash / no help to small businesses. If Uncle Sam were to send me money, I would immedicately spend some $10,000 on equiment repair. That goes into the flow from the bottom up. Each level it hits is like an injection there. In other words, starting at the bottom of the size scale going up is far more effective than what has been done. My dollar is a repair service / is a new equipment dollar / is another employee making money to pay his own bills. Why not give people a government check to spend as they see fit on trees they have put off???

Everything done over the last 4 years started at the top, but has not made money easier to borrow from the bank. GM and Chrysler have not reduced the price of their autos even though we still own 31% of GM. The investment firms just increased their reserves rather than pay back investor losses. Top-down DOES NOT WORK!!!!

Cantor must be defeated

Postby Stephen Fox » Wed Jul 13, 2011 3:54 pm

Eric Cantor, Demint and the Bush Tax Cuts with his Wars are what's wrong.

Whatever it takes to unseat Cantor in his Congressional District should be the Bonhoefferian matter at hand.
