Teaches at West Georgia in Carrollton, Jerry Vines stompin grounds.
Williams was raised Church of Christ in Maine, graduate of Case Western in Ohio, and PHD from Brown.
Had the good fortune to have phone conversation with him this afternoon. His intent was dispassioned history and analysis and I think he does that well after a first reading of his book.
I think it is clear to me at least, his history suggests strongly the SBC CR was very much a product of of influence of Birch Society, Billy James Hargis, Carl McIntyre, Francis Schaeffer; as opposed to legacy of George Truett and E. Y. Mullins.
But that was not his intent to make the point. It's my interpretation of his work.
I hope in some capacity he will join us here on occasion for the discussion.
With Mark Noll I highly recommend him for presentation at CBF and Alliance meetings; for sure he should speak at Mercer and Samford this fall.
He follows Richard Land closely, and Ed McAteer and Tim Lahaye and Francis Schaeffer as the SBC CR combusted in the 70's.
