[quote="JimAnyone with much sense would realize we need term limits in Congress.
I agree but I don’t have much sense, so that may disqualify me. Actually, term limits were made constitutional back in the day, but only for the president, after the days of FDR. The notion that Congress will ever restrict itself involves hopelessness. They have too good a gig. This can only be accomplished through state legislatures petitioning for an amendment, and, they, also, are to “bought off” and, of course, would be automatically limiting themselves.

Jim, what you are telling us is that the Republican party is made up of those who tell lies. In the 1994 Contract with America that they said would be enacted as soon as they had a majority in Congress, they promised a solemn oath that term limits would be part of what they enacted as soon as they had control. In 1995, they took control of Congress, and as best I recall, President Clinton agreed with them on term limits. No bills, however, made it to the floor of the House of Representatives or the Senate. After those lies, it was one of the last times I voted for a Republican. It was one of the most disillusioning days for me, second only to Watergate. BTW, Strom Thurmond, Jesse Helms, and Robert Byrd should provide plenty of evidence for the need for term limits through the excesses of both parties.
