We lost a national treasure--veteran news man Daniel Schorr died yesterday at 93. A protoge of the legendary Edward R, Murrow, Schorr personified integrity and fearless, accurate reporting and perceptive insight. He remained active and mentally sharp to the very end, and his commentaries as NPR's senior news analyst will be greatly missed.

He was a good one. Forced to work outside mainstream media or cable news. NPR is usually trustworthy.

He was thought-provoking, irritating, and usually right.

I know we all hope to reach the end of our lives as mentally sharp as Daniel Schorr was. Toward the last, he was coming into the studio on a walker, but his mind had not slowed down at all.

Dan Schorr was the only commentator/reporter of his faith who I felt was fair to Palenstine. I don't ever recall him being an Israel apologist, e.g. Charles Krauthammer and Richard Cohen.
