Yeah, I know the credibility of Newsmax and Fox is less than zero, and 2012 is a long way off. That would probably be the best news Obama supporters and staff could ever get from Newsmax, though.

Dick Morris went on the record early and often (for probably two years) voicing his certainty that Hillary Clinton would succeed Bush, not that it would have mattered since she would have been no improvement on Obama, a total disaster at this point. Palin, the object of McCain’s failed gimmickry in 2008, is smarter than either one and was literally shredded by the msm and the McCain gang in 2008 but comes off as shrill, sort of like the proverbial fishwife. The tragedy is that there are no credible contenders in either party at this time. The country is drifting. The one gimmick that Obama has used consistently is race but it will backfire on him when white people have had enough. My take, for whatever it’s worth (worthless, more likely): .

I second what Jim said about the lack of credible contenders. The lack of a moral will in this country to do what is necessary in the face of all challenges is frightening. The perfect example is here in VA. We have a governor who wants to put a toll booth on I-95 at the NC line in one of the poorest counties in the state. He refuses to talk about raising the gas tax to fix the roads, but will catch the folks who have to cross the state line to work every day. If the issue were to get the most money, the toll would be placed just south of DC where twice as many cars use I-95 each day, but that would be political suicide, so they want it in a small rural county without great clout. Of course, that is just like getting a politician to talk about ending tax cuts that have helped us go deeper in debt each month while we fight two wars on money borrowed from the Chinese.

Wow, this is probably the most laughable claim by Morris yet (and he has had some way off the mark). Polls consistently show Palin is one of the least popular national political figures (well, she does beat John Edwards). She has some really strong fans (apparently including Morris) but that number is too small for a successful presidential run. If the Republicans want to give Obama a second term, Morris has picked the right nominee. As for the VP candidate from the last time getting the nod, that just isn't the case. Apparently, Morris forgot about John Edwards, Joe Lieberman, Jack Kemp, and many more. Being the VP usually sets you up for the nomination (with Dan Quayle & Dick Cheney as notable exceptions). However, losing the VP race without ever being VP has not ever gotten someone the presidential nominee in the next cycle (Bob Dole did eventually come from losing VP candidate to presidential nominee but it took 20 years and it took FDR a couple of cycles to do the same). To overcome such weight of history would require a highly popular and talented politician--and that's not Palin. Morris should be discounted as a serious political commentator.
