Will Southern Baptists continue to follow Trump when he has shown his cards in religion?

Not just Southern Baptists, but a whole spectrum of conservative Evangelicals, including many independent, non-denominational megachurch leaders are diametrically opposed to women serving in pastoral leadership and very vocal regarding the prosperity gospel as false doctrine.

Evangelical supporters of Trump have already thrown away their credibility by the complete reversal of their perspective on the personal morality of candidates, particularly presidential candidates, which they articulated when President Clinton was in office. Now, we're hearing "I'm not electing a pastor-in-chief, I'm electing a commander-in-chief" crap. That's just sheer hypocrisy. From here on out, when engaging any evangelical Christian in a discussion of "complimentarianism," women's roles in the church and belief in the inerrancy and infallibility of scripture, my first question will be, "Are you a Trump supporter?" If the answer is yes, then they've conceded their position is wrong. That's applying their own standard to their argument, since they are more dismissive of those who don't see eye to eye with them regarding abortion rights. They must own Trump and everything that goes with him--adultery, divorce, philandering with porn stars, business deceit and fraud, thousands upon thousands of open, provable lies and dishonesty, strip club and gaming resort promotion and ownership, all the proven corruption involving foreign countries in his election and re-election efforts, all of it--if they are going to give him unqualified support.

There are some Evangelicals who saw this from the beginning and never supported him, enduring the slander and attempts to punish them that came with it and there are those who have seen that he is a phony and a fraud and have walked away since he was elected. We will see which Southern Baptists value their complimentarianism and belief in inerrancy and infallibility and which have been led astray by the chance at worldly power and influence over principle. Look at the alleged evangelical "leaders" who hang around Trump. They are money grubbers, prosperity preachers, and wannabees looking for a handout.

It's ironic that Evangelicals were also enamored with Richard Nixon.

The thing that amazes me is that there is no outcry about the employment of a "minister in residence" on the WH payroll as having anything to do with the separation of church and state. Guess there are no real Baptists out there.

She is not on the government payroll. Her position is voluntary, funded by personal ambition and the quest for fame and notoriety which helps raise money, although according to reports, she has lost a lot of members of her church, particularly African Americans and Latinos, because she openly endorses the buffoon from the pulpit.

By any conservative evangelical measurement of her theology and ministry, she fits the definition of heretic. She doesn't believe the Bible is inerrant or infallible but is, in fact, subject to "divine revelations" of the spirit that are equally inspired, and come from those annointed as apostles,like her. Her prosperity gospel theology has been labelled by many evangelical writers as heresy. And, she's a woman who is the lead pastor of a church and definitely exercises both spiritual and ecclesiastical authority over men.

Quite a contrast to President Obama, whose spiritual advisor during his White House years was Rick Warren. Or to Bill Clinton, who consulted with Tony Campolo, or even George W. Bush, who considered Kirbyjohn Caldwell his spiritual advisor.
