Cross is the "most recognizable symbol" of Christianity

A cross on government property violates the principle of government neutrality toward religion. This is one of those issues which illustrates precisely the line that runs through the issue of religious freedom and separation of church and state. A cross has been used by the government to symbolize something other than what it actually stands for in the Christian faith. That means the government is re-defining the meaning of the cross as a symbol, not of a risen savior, but of the death of someone who died in service of the country.
