Press Release: Sen. Cruz, Rep. Rooney Introduce Constitutional Amendment Imposing Term Limits on Members of Congress
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Rep. Francis Rooney (R-Fla.) yesterday introduced an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to impose term limits on members of Congress. The amendment would limit U.S. senators to two six-year terms and members of the U.S. House of Representatives to three two-year terms.

Should the resolution pass the House and Senate, the amendment would go to the states for ratification, requiring a vote of 3/4 of the state legislatures within seven years.

Goes as far as it goes.

In order to end the need to be re-elected while in office (making reps/senator subject to hard or soft bribes), I would very much recommend one-term limits for both bodies.

Yes I know there will be a learning curve about Congressional processes with so much turnover. But reports/instructions should be written down often - it helps to clarify issues and record data when you write sometime down. I’ve learned that in so many venues - defense work, company strategic planning, church planning/committee work, civic organizations, even reading books. Have not always done that, but I recognize it helps clarify thinking.

Hopefully you mean one-term, not one-year term.

Yes that is what I meant. The key is that they are not beholding to campaign donors with special interests while in office. And mind you congressmen/women could still be bribed to line their own pockets (as I think the president is doing) just not to finance their next election since they would be prohibited from running for a second term.

Good. I've corrected it for the next reader.

It would be interesting to see if it helped.

I'd not be against two or three 2 year terms for the House just because there is a learning curve and lack of experience can also be a problem as well as too much time in congress. But I like the idea of term limits.

Ed: I favor term limits however I believe the short terms you fellows suggest are far too short. I would favor something in the total 16 to 20 year range.
