That seems like an attempt to legitimize Trump's label of "fake news." Anyone with a computer and a 6th grade education can determine the difference between news that is "fake," like the blatantly false statements put into memes and distributed on social media, or a news story based on incidents which occurred and statements which were actually made. I have yet to see an example of a "fake news" story related to this president that was genuinely made up and not true. Most of what he pokes his finger at is content that can be verified simply by playing back video of him saying something that he didn't remember he said, or that he thinks his own base is too stupid to remember or is just willing to forget. The Times and the Post have been meticulously accurate and have gone beyond the call of duty to be fair to this president.
