I was amused by Camille Paglia's rundown of some possible candidates:

Bernie and Biden: "way too old and creaky."
Gillibrand: "a wobbly mediocrity"
Booker: "all the gravitas of a cork"
Warren: "has never had a snowball’s chance in hell to appeal beyond upper-middle-class professionals of her glossy stripe."
Kamala: "already imprinted an image of herself as a ruthless inquisitor that will make it hard for her to pull voters across party lines."
Andrew Cuomo: "is a yapping puppy with a long, muddy bullyboy tail."
Hil: "pretty much damaged goods, but her perpetual, sniping, pity-me tour shows no signs of abating...stumbling, hacking, shop-worn Evita "

It's gonna be fun, brethren and sistren.

On Hillary... I think we saw the level of heart towards her from Dems as she wasn’t called on to fly in and help anyone during the midterms.

Lots of baggage her defenders from 2 years ago don’t want to carry.

Interesting comment about Biden and Sanders being "too old and creaky." My perspective on age has changed considerably since advancing past the designated 55 year old "senior" status. Trump is just a year or two younger than Biden, maybe two or three under Sanders. Age is just a number.

But, wow, this is a shocker. William Thornton reading Camille Paglia? I wouldn't think she has much of a following among retired Georgia Southern Baptist pastors. But hey, drop something she says into one of your SBC Voices posts and see what happens.

BTW, Hillary's name was used on a lot of the emails the DNC sent out during the campaign. And she did make appearances for two candidates, Jackie Rosen in Nevada and Kyrsten Sinema in Arizona.

I catch her stuff occasionally, have for years. Quite interesting. I think I have quoted her on voices. I agree with her on all these dems...

Since she is on the record as identifying as transgender, and as not at identifying as a woman, I wonder if a non-she-based pronoun set might be more appropriate. I just posted a comment to the same effect on the Talk Page of the Camille Paglia Wikipedia article.

I'm not sure I'd call her "interesting." To me, she's one of dozens that fall in the same category as the Kardashians, the kind of people who make you wonder exactly what it is that makes them interesting enough to some people that they have a following of sorts. I can see why William might be politically attracted to this kind of anti-dem ranting. She's a pretty typical trumper though....

This is not really a comprehensive or very accurate list of potential candidates. There's some polling data among Democrats about preferences and Bernie and Biden land at the top of those, not surprising. Booker has a following, Gillibrand, Harris and Warren, not so much except in their own regions. Looking at all the electoral signs, Trump will be beaten to the ground by any Democrats who want to run, if he survives Mueller and impeachment so the list might get bigger. No one is perfect but this whole list looks pretty doggone good compared to what we've had to endure the past two years.

I don't think it will be long before you hear the name Beto O'Rourke associated with the 2020 presidential election. Hillary won't run again.

Paglia doesn't nickname candidates but does toss out pithy descriptions. Politics is sport. It will be both entertaining and fun starting early next year.
