Still upset with the NFL?

Postby Sandy » Mon Aug 27, 2018 11:35 pm

When I heard Trump criticize John McCain and declare that he wasn't a war hero because he "liked heros that weren't captured," that should have been interpreted at face value for the despicable, disgraceful comment that it was, and it should have characterized the coward who made it. Refusing to lower the White House flag to half staff was the ultimate act of indignity and disrespect for a man who sacrificed for his country, and a slap in the face to every veteran who ever served, to every surviving prisoner of war, and to the entire US military.

So much for criticizing NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem.

I have taken the whole McCain story as one more reminder of how little a person the POTUS really is. Prisoners of war did not choose to be that. Most of them paid a tremendous price in their health issues for the rest of their lives, as did he. Trump needs a zipped lip on this, especially after the American Legion's letter.
