From Gerry Milligan...
Based on the actions of the White House and the half staff (or not) of our flag in honor of John McCain, how can the president even comment on the NFL players taking a knee for the anthem? AP news reports that pressure from the American Legion caused the disrespect to end.

The American Legion also had to step in to get the Veterans' Day military parade Trump wants to do so he can feel as important as Putin and Macron either canceled or postponed. In that case the issue was fiscal responsibility, not respect for a deceased Senator and veteran (I'm not sure if I would say war hero, it's a matter of definitions, but certainly he suffered grave indignities and injuries as a result of his imprisonment in Vietnam). Maybe if the AL has enough of these cases to look at it will get through their skulls that Trump is not the guy they thought they were supporting.

More on the flag...In his tribute to John McCain, James M. Inhoff said that John McCain was one of the only politicians to support him in his initial run for senate from Oklahoma. Then today Sen Inhoff showed his true sycophancy to trump when he blamed John McCain for trump not lowering the flag out of respect. Even President ordered the flags lowered for Anton Scalia. Inhoff makes my sad that I am originally from Oklahoma.

How does one blame John McCain for Trump not lowering the flag? And once you've done so, how does anyone else swallow it?
