A Baptist Response to Jeff Sessions

Postby Dave Roberts » Wed Jun 20, 2018 7:45 am

This morning, both the Richmond Times Dispatch and the Raleigh News and Observer published this article from Curtis Freeman, Director of the Baptist House at Duke Divinity School. It is worth the time to read it.

Thanks for providing this rvaughn.

Trump has heard the outcry from the people (or was it from Melania - his immigrant wife).

I do note that Trump just had to be defensive with the sentence:

It is unfortunate that Congress’s failure to act and court orders have put the Administration in the position of separating alien families to effectively enforce the law.

He was not forced to take this policy position (one that he defended until the hue and cry got loud enough) - no such actions were taken by the Obama administration under the same laws.

Or well, Trump has seldom shown much class.

I was referring to Freeman's article, but in a strange way it applies to the EO too. And now today the Administration is stopping the prosecutions altogether (though only provisionally, until ICE has the needed resources to go forward with them). I guess the argument is that since Kim Jong Un turned out to be such a nice guy (who'd a thunk it from all the bad press the mainstream media was giving him?) maybe the Guatemalan Muslims will turn out to be pretty decent people too. Until day after tomorrow, when it all reboots.

I saw that. Hopefully plenty of Latino voters did too.
