Deregulation

For those interested (and all should be interested in the dismantling of environmental, financial, communications, education, health, labor, transportation regulations that is taking place mostly under the radar of the headlines):

Environmental deregulation includes rescinding/relaxing (with promises of replacing sometime):
Clean Power Act,
Clean Water Rule,
Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) Standards
Methane Rule,
Accidental Chemical Release Prevention Rule,
Coal Ash Rule,
Disclosure of Payments by Resource Extraction Issuers,
etc. etc.
- a total or 42 rules, regulations or standards relaxed or rescinded (some with promises of restatement)

There have been 15 health related deregulations, 11 financial deregulations, 11 telecom deregs, 10 labor deregs, 7 educational deregs. Seems to be concentrated on EPA deregulations.

Some of these are no doubt good, but the devil is in the details and this tracker gives those details free of comment as to advisability.

It seems a very haphazard way of doing things to me without discussion, hearings, or reviews of possible unintended consequences.

If you do a little digging, you'll also find that most of the EPA regulations and policies from the Obama administration were renewals of previous practices and policies. The argument that "the other side did it too" is a major indicator of a diversion, and lack of any credible rebuttal. It usually means that the context of a previous action has been left out, or that there's a statement being made without corroboration.
