Simplified tax deduction structure

Postby Haruo » Tue Nov 21, 2017 2:44 pm

I just wrote this rather sarcastic little lead-in on FB:
Now more than ever it's important to reduce tax losses at the bottom end of things in order to lessen the effect of tax cuts for the wealthy on the national bottom line. Surely it makes no sense to have poorly paid people like musicians and elementary school teachers draining the nation's wealth with their deductions when they could just as well take the money out of their food budgets.

À propos of this article, which the UMC Musicians page turned me on to: Musicians, You’re About to Lose Your Tax Deductions. Whatever you may think of the desirability of doing away with the deductions in question, if they go there will be an impact, either financial or moral, on the churches.
