Legal Responsibility???

Postby Dave Roberts » Tue Nov 07, 2017 9:43 am

I have a question for someone who understands the law far better than I. The Air Force has admitted that the Texas shooter was not properly identified by the military when he was discharged. Had he been properly identified as a spouse abuser and a child abuser, he would never have been able to buy a firearm. Does this then mean that the Air Force will assume liability for the medical care of all those who were injured and required treatment, for the funeral expenses of those killed, and for the ongoing counseling of those traumatized by these events? If it were a not a government unit, the lawsuits would be flying. What is the legal reality here since they allowed this to happen?

Just to add to this, our military justice system only entered one person in the last 10 years for domestic abuse to the FBI's Criminal Information Network, the resource for law enforcement and for background checks. Talk about a major Pentagon coverup.

I hadn't seen that figure. That does sound like what ought to be an actionable breach of duty. At the very least there ought to be some epaulets flying.
