Congressmen Supports Trump but not Obama on Syria

Postby KeithE » Sun Apr 09, 2017 2:04 pm

Top Republicans who opposed Syria attack under Obama are now praising Trump's strike.
Apparently who makes a decision plays a great deal in approving that decision at least to many in Congress. McConnell, Ryan, Rubio, Hatch, Chaffetz, Poe all now approve of Trump’s 2017 military action while opposing Obama in 2013 even when the chem attacks in 2013 were much more devastating (1400 dead). McCain and Grahm were at least consistant opting for military action in both situation.

Some background: The truth about Obama’s Red Line

Apparently Obama had second thoughts about the wisdom of attacking after the red-line violation by Al-Assad in 2013. So he put it to Congress authorize a counter-attack. The Republicans put it down at that time.

I fixed the second link. Please read since this gives a new understanding of why Obama did not respond to the redline violation. It does not absolve him but provides additional context not being given in today’s “news” about these 2013 events. It also magnifies the partisan nature of the voting history of several in Congress.
