First Christian Inaguration

I had a friend send me this article this morning. The presumptive nature of this is nauseating to me. God is not our "genie in a bottle" to be invoked at will. The theology is atrocious, not to mention the historical myopia.

I don't think of putting Franklin Graham in the inauguration as a particularly Christian thing, and they're featuring a rabbi, too, so this is just silly. Sad part is how many buy it. But I agree, this about as much a Christian Inauguration as Obama's purported removal of Christ from Christmas is a Muslim thing. (I missed that Jim, when and how?)

The inaugural stuff is fairly meaningless except for (1) the oath of office, (2) the presence of Obama that expresses the peaceful and voluntary transfer of power, and (3) the presence of the judicial and legislative officials.

I will give Hillary credit for being present with former president Clinton.

My point in starting this thread was to expose the historical arrogance of the Christian Right, a group that IMHO is neither Christian nor right. It's a group aimed at power politics and creating Christian domination. If you check past inaugurations, all in my memory have featured Christian ministers and other faith groups. Admittedly, my memory only goes back to Eisenhower's second inaugural, but to claim this is the first Christian inauguration is certainly totally without merit.
