Trump Postpones His Conflict of Interest Press Conference

And he postponed it until some time in January - probably after the Inauguration Date on Friday January 20.



In fact he has postponed any Press Conference until January. His last one was in July 2016 - he does not want to held responsible. Does not bode well for an accountable President - he wants to tweet his view and not take questions.

That means he is afraid of it. He wants more time to be prepared or to deflect his current problems - Russian Influence, conflict of interests, his obscene Cabinet picks, and his foreign business ties.

I think Trump has not found the way, despite all his lawyers, to satisfactorily deal with the conflicts of interest. The one that no one is addressing is the amount of money he owes Deutche Bank for his DC property. The Germans hold his mortgage.

Whether through sheer naivete, jealousy, or malice, it’s ridiculous for anyone to expect Trump to divest himself of holdings, put anything in a blind trust or otherwise take his own sticky fingers off what he has. The founders never considered the presidency or any other elective position as a full-time commitment, thus keeping their jobs, possessions, and cash and showing up occasionally to do the nation’s business. This concept should still be operative. Does anyone actually believe politicians when they claim to put their assets in some sort of blind trust and entirely turn them over to anyone else? I believe they keep a wary eye out on everything. There’s no reason for office-holders to lose control over what they’ve earned, the conflict of interest accusations notwithstanding. Nor do I care a fig about how much taxes Trump has paid or not paid as long as he has operated honestly, and apparently he has. Everyone in this forum pays as little in taxes as he can get away with honestly…or not. Anyhow, it would take all of Trump’s time for the next four years to actually divest himself of everything he owns, as if that were possible, leaving no time to govern. Obama has spent so much time on Air Force One and traveling to far places to make numbing uber-forgettable speeches while being president that the nation is probably better off for his absenteeism from Washington.

When common sense rears its ugly head the uber-liberal positions are instantly buried. The Congress and Courts have the power to oversee anything Trump does, specifically involving conflicts of interest. The investigations into the conflicts of Hillary and the Clinton Foundation are instructive, as well as her motivations in using secret servers to cover any misdeeds involving the conflicts and actually everything else. Trump, of course, has no reason to believe anything he gets from the current administration anyway, though he has appointed actual adults to ride herd now, many if not most as civilians with military backgrounds, no-nonsense stuff.
