The predictable response to the Trump triumph from the truly enlightened arrived within minutes of his election, to wit, that he was elected by the great unwashed—people like me, in other words—the educationally-challenged. Hillary had already described these stupid folks, that “basket of deplorables,” the wretches—racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic—and irredeemably so…hopeless cases. Egad! People who actually had not been university-educated, in other words, or otherwise holding degrees connoting superior intelligence. One can only imagine the laughter in Pennsylvania, where folks were described by Obama as clutching their Bibles and shotguns and looking under the bushes for illegals. My thoughts in doggerel for anyone with time to waste is attached (I think).

From Joseph Patrick...aka Gerry Milligan

It is 10:40 PM PST and here in Portland, OR the biggest losers are the citizens, the businesses and our safety with the protests which turned into riots. The behavior seen is shameful and without purpose. While I am sad for our country, I do wonder how many of these protesters were among the 46% which did not vote.

Among Hillary’s first statements in announcing her run for the presidency was the one claiming that the time for a WOMAN had arrived, as if possessing a vagina was decisive.  Wicked men like Bubba had held the job for too long.  The degree of that stupidity was surpassed the other night by the degree of narcissism when she refused to face defeat “like a man” and appear before her sycophant/worshipers and worn-out campaigners to make at least a two-minute concession speech.  Instead, she hired a hall and turned her concession on Wednesday into an “event” that resembled, however, a funeral.  I watched all those folks who had just had their potential Washington positions deep-sixed by probably the worst-performing candidate in history, a person totally without class.  I arrived on the scene when Herbert Hoover was president and in the long time-frame since then can’t remember a more contemptible, self-serving politician than Hillary, who managed to lower corruption to a new level.  My angst was stirred when she claimed to have been the “champion” for women, as if women are not already virtually taking over education, the courts, and establishing thriving enterprises.  One thinks of Susan B. Anthony, Lucy Burns, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Geraldine Ferraro, Sarah Palin, Nancy Pelosi and the other women in Congress (a sizeable contingent) and state legislatures throughout the country.  She unsuccessfully hit the glass ceiling (for her, solid steel) and immediately became a victim/whiner, as if men and other women don’t do that sometimes in every area of endeavor.  Hopefully, she, the consummate liar and as the very worst possible role model for young women, will disappear from the scene, and good riddance, although an independent prosecutor looking into her nefarious activities would be the best entertainment C-Span could offer.

Seriously, maybe they can all work in real estate. Sales are hot, prices rising, and look how well Trump himself has done...

Today, the skivvies I'm wearing were made in Cambodia; T-shirt in El Salvador; shirt in Honduras; pants and shoes in China, as was the coat (along with the other things) I wore to vote. These things were made recently in states such as Kentucky, Tennessee and North Carolina. Think Hanes and Fruit of the Loom, with factories shut down and throwing thousands out of work. The 132-pound rail (39 inches worth) upon which I hustled locomotives was made in Japan. The Japanese and Germans have been smart enough to build cars in this country. Other manufacturers overseas have not done that, thus the loss of millions of jobs. During Reagan's two terms, the corporate tax-rate declined by 22%. Obama insisted on raising it to nearly 40%, more than in Reagan's last year in office. That worsened hope for manufacturing. In violating his oath, Obama never inculcated the employer-mandate provision enacted by Congress, his attention to Obamacare folly actuated by the plans of industry (at least small-business folks) to implement the wage-killing 30-hour work-week. The drive to socialism espoused by Barack and Hillary (and the wildly cheated Sanders, by his own party) hopefully is stopped for now. Time will tell since conservatism/capitalism has not actually won yet. In the meantime, the products of public schools and universities are third-world geeks (like their professors) thinking government changes by burning up someone else's property and threatening terrorism.

Progressivism

The grim charade has had its day,
Progressivism losing sway,
Its modus operandi shot,
Its claim of bleeding-heart just rot;
It never was a worker's hope,
Its propaganda, rope-a-dope,
Its subterfuge now recognized
By those whom it had tantalized
Into believing their best chance
Was joining it – take up its dance,
But now defeated at the polls
Must face a set of brand-new roles.
It propagandized playing-field
Must be so level no one yield
To thoughts (oh dear) ambition-wise
Like trying private enterprise;
The prexy said it all one day
When he said that there was no way
A man could make it on his own,
That government as stepping-stone
Was necessary to success...
Let no one otherwise obsess;
But now perhaps the worm will turn
As government the workers spurn
And leadership adjusts the means
Whereby entrepreneurship leans
Upon itself, and nothing more,
Progressivism out the door.

From Joseph Patrick...aka Gerry Milligan

Sandy said: "I think you can add conservative, evangelical Christians to the loser column. Their overwhelming support for Trump revealed a fatal flaw in their character that can be described as either deliberate hypocrisy, or blind delusion, and I think there will be a relatively steady stream of quiet but noticeable departures of people in the pew that see, and feel, the inconsistency, which I will characterize as Ichabod written over the doorway."

To this I say AMEN!!! How can self described, born again believers vote for an undocumented sex offender, a liar, a racist, a bully, a misogynist, a hate monger? Those self described evangelicals who voted for Trump need to review their commitment to The Gospel.

Not trump. Not Clinton. One of the two minor candidates didn't make the ballot, don't recall which one.

I would have voted for Hil but couldn't overcome the disgust with lying and such, not to mention the lib Obama continuation of policies.

I said I wouldn't vote for trump and I didn't. Did all the undercard races. Cast a ballot consistent with my conscience, something I expect that all of you did as well.

I thought it was clear that I didn't cast a presidential vote (although if I had thought Georgia was in play and Hil had a chance, I may have wavered). That was a choice consistent with my conscience. I am unapologetic for it.

No, Keith's right, it was unclear whether you had voted. You said you didn't vote for Trump, and it would have been hard to imagine you voting for Clinton, but... maybe McMullin? Thanks for clarifying.
