Young woman here in Bama who was close to Viola Liuzzo's son Tommy who moved near Harpersville Bama in late 70s not far from the WMU international headquarters. She had phone conversation with Tom Hayden about ten years ago and he asked about Liuzzo, sincere concern about him.

William is again on the wrong side of history on this one.

Another friend was director of the critically acclaimed documentary on the Chicago Ten a few years ago. Brett Morgen and I go back to the days I was his consultant on a doc on Collinsville in 92, a doc edited in LA by Bob Dylan's son Sam.

William should turn his attention to Patrick Phillips Blood at the Root. Rivetting account of the lynchings in 1912 in Forsyth County Ga with a sterling quote on Newt Morris who three years later with bowtie is in the pic with Leo Frank hanging from a tree. I may do some historical analysis of Newt and bring it home to Nelson Price and Trey Gowdy.

Just watch me.

Father Coughlin, the radio demagogue was Hayden's priest in the early days. Quite a twist of which I was unaware.

William, I checked Blood at the Root out of the Ft Payne Library and have been enthralled ever since reading several chapters many times. Had a conversation with the author yesterday. Reading on the front porch, at the local Hamburger joint.

Keeping the book in the car and reading where and when the Spirit leads.

So yes like most books I "drop" thorough reading.

Back to Hayden.

I posted this to make the point that some considered “radical” in their time, were actually right. Vietnam was obviously ill-advised with over 1.1 million communist (North Vietnamese and Viet Cong), 223,000 South Vietnamese and 58,000 US soldiers killed, for no good purpose (Communism died of its own accord).
