The Press still doesn't get it

Donald Trump, has shown the bulk of the Republican party that they do not have to follow the same old script for which the press has their stories all most fully written when they come to the hall. The NBC talking heads went on and on about how they "can't believe that people in charge could have known that Cruse was not going to endorse Trump and still let him go on stage". I believe they had no choice. Had they not let him go on anti Trump people (including the "progressives" on this board people would have made a hero out of Cruse. Cruse had a choice swallow hard, and get on board and have a place in the party or commit what the majority of the delegates seemed to see as party treason, He chose the latter. The question is now can he ever recover? Not January, maybe by 2020 or 2024. If Cruse is as smart as many believe, by breakfast he needs to be saying - Why was Gingrich the only one to understand what I said?

And as for all the chatter about Trump leaving the stage and not parading Pence around like is usually done, I thought it showed that Donald Trump does not think of Pence as a little league player who just scored for the first time. In other words, he got out of the way and let an adult man have his moment in the spotlight.

Also I think the republicans may be wearing out the "dirty Hillery is a crook" theme", of course when the primaries started I was almost ready to commit to her.

Actually, I think that the press, Ted Cruz, and a host of other Republicans, really do get it. The public, prime time portions of the convention have been an unmitigated disaster. From the array of reality tee vee and soap opera stars on the speaker's platform, to Melania's, and Donald Jr.'s plagiarism, to the boos last night, the things that are getting attention are all negative. For the first time in a long time, the Democrats have to be ready to pop champaign corks on poll numbers coming out after the Republican convention. Every Republican senator in a re-election challenge who hasn't shown up in Cleveland, every governor running for re-election who isn't there, and every former presidential candidate who isn't there gets it.

These words are going to come from my fingers, and I almost can't believe it, but good for Ted Cruz. Trump was despicably rude, and showed his complete and total lack of integrity with his lying slanderous remarks about Cruz's wife and father. He got his back in the face, in front of the Republican convention and its assorted flotsam of bigots, racists, Ku Klux Klansmen and rich robber barons who make up most of the convention crowd. I think Cruz sent a wake up call to the Republican Party that it is time to get up and save their party. He got it, the media got it, and Trump and his supporters don't.

Ted Cruz will never be a hero of mine. But he showed more manhood that most of the GOP leadership ever thought about by refusing to endorse a man who insulted and denigrated his family and has done most of the same thing to everyone else. I almost started to respect him just a little bit.

Watching Trump, and fact check's truth meter. So far, not a single fact or truthful statement, 20 minutes into the speech. Here's a guy who has turned tax evasion, bankruptcy and legal theft into an art form, calling Hillary Clinton corrupt.

This Republican convention has been the worst display of mudslinging, negativity, lies and character assassination that I've ever seen. Lincoln is rolling over in his grave. God help the church in this country, because the Christians who endorse and support this monstrous evil will drag us all down with them.
