What we are getting on college campuses has less to do with politics than with these being the children of "helicopter parents" who have demanded perfect environments for their children in schools and always above average grades for them. Across the spectrum, these young people have never been taught to handle disappointments or diversity.

I like what Dave said. As for the Yale incident, I was in Stiles and JE. I don't know about costumes, exactly, but I did a little halfassed streaking. Maybe Silliman got its name for a reason, though the last three letters are undeniably sexist...

Part of the problem is a problem of the lack of public relations ability of the University administration.

A lot of the incidents of racism reported probably can't really be dealt with by the administration. But the lack of perceived empathy is a problem.

If a church member comes to me with a problem I can't fix that doesn't mean I ignore the problem or refuse to talk with them about the problem. At the very least I can listen and empathize with the problem.

One of the most important leadership skills today is being able to communicate effectively. What Mizzou was getting, in part, was administration without communication.

I think there were weaknesses in the Mizzou leadership. I don't think the blame is on inept administrators overall but I do wish for the second coming of S. I. Hayakawa.

Ah, yes, the intrepid Sandy relenlessly stalking the right-wing media stooges. If Koch and Trump are investing in raising conservative presence and influence on campus, it's a pity they are burning through good money for little or no result.

I called student campus minister at Nick Saban's St Francis Catholic church in Tuscaloosa last week to alert them to the New Racism, New Republic article as there was some unrest at UBama with SGA Prez Spillers a person of color. I think minorities at Bama have legitimate grip and could get some national attention if they protest during the Iron Bowl in reference to Bama House Speaker Mike Hubbard and his political "bleaching" strategy to weaken the power of minorities across the state. He makes his Money off the Auburn football program whose Coach Malzahn is great friend of former SB C Prez Ronnie Floyd from Malzahn and asst coach Lashlee days in NW Arkansas.

There is also the matter of the court fee system in Bama which has been written up by Wayne Flynt's great friend Mark Wilson folks at Auburn Dempcracy project. Wilso is influential with Flynt at FBC Auburn and heads the Democracy project with the University.

If Spillers at Bama and Wilson's group at Auburn Coordinated and focused on the New Republic article and court fee system then at least in Bama all this "whining" might not be for naught
