At last! The 2016 election topic.

We few never tire of the same positions and opinions and we get to do it all over again with different candidates. What a great country!

Sure, Hil might be a lead pipe cinch for my semi-socialist friends but, at least for a while, we get GQ O'Malley and white-maned Sanders, and maybe a couple of other Don Quixote Dems to spice it up.

But how about a little appreciation here for the vast smorgasboard of Republican candidates?

Rick Perry...again? Oops. Another Bush? Marco the Magnificent? A real woman who has done something? Santorum? Loose-lipped Kasich? Huckabee's snake oil? Guy who beat the unions? The Doc? The Other Doc? Three Southern Baptists? Indian-American? Christie?

Gold mine for pundits, brethren!

I'd bet that there's not a single Republican candidate without some bircher/worthen/pressler connection...probably the ghost of Billy Graham somewhere (wait...he's still alive). Maybe someone will point this out in a virtually indecipherable manner.

And it is frightening how much Rick Perry sounded like GW Bush in his announcement. I know, it is just the Texas accent. But it brings back speeches about congratulating "Brownie", "putting food on your family" and of course Rick not being able to remember which of three government agencies he wants to shut down.

If nothing else William it is going to be entertaining.

Yeah, and maybe Hil will bring back, "If you like your doctor..."

Santorum is already in trouble with his Catholic base. He said that the pope should leave global warming to the scientists. Then with foot in mouth he learned that the Pope has a masters degree in chemistry. So the pope is a member of the scientific community.

Don't forget Ted Cruz using Biden in a stump speech while his son lay in state--really presidential sounding.

So far, the almost daily announcements of someone's candidacy have been entertaining, even if most of them are lacking in specifics beyond the promise, "I can do better than my opponents." Since most are unidentified as yet, that's a pretty bold statement.

I have heard (from the Mrs) that Santorum referred to the President as "the Nig in the White House", but I haven't seen the clip. I could imagine him saying that thinking it would be a way to attract the YBM vote...

I think it was a different candidate who used that derogatory term, or almost used it before he stopped himself. I remember reading about it on FB, which is of course completely reliable, but I don't recall which one it was.

Actually, it appears it was a headline writer for a small newspaper and heading a pro-Obama article.
