I would agree with much of what this article says. I think a lot of racism is unconscious, so to speak, and isn't recognized for what it really is. And of course, any time there's something related to it, the accusation of "playing the race card" is designed to nullify, not acknowledge honest feelings.
I've contended, for a long time, that it is pretty well next to impossible for someone from the dominant racial culture to have any kind of real understanding of what a difference it makes in life to be a person of a different race. I was recently at a conference where two women, a Korean-American and an African=American, both successful in terms of education and career, talked about the "glass ceiling" and the fact that in spite of their hard work, still faced issues related to being minorities and female, in 21st century America.
