and is an update thru 2014. In 2014, there were 6,900 fatalities due to 900 climatic events, costing $97B in damages (only 31% of damages were insured).
It’s the long term trends in both atmospheric and oceanic temperatures that are driving the increases in climate-related disasters. Note that geophysical disastrous events and droughts have not changed frequency very much, but strong storms, floods, wildfires, extreme temperatures (aka heat waves) and landslides together (each costing more than $1B to fix) have increased from approx 300/year to 900 /year (that's a ~300% increase).
And that says nothing about other ill effects of global warming. Look to the IPCC’s or for professional summaries of all the effects.
