It is now clear what the Republican Party's immigration position will be for the 2016 election. In an interview on Fox News, Sarah Palin said, "Go back to what our founders and founding documents meant--they're quite clear--that we would create a law based on the God of the Bible and the Ten Commandments." I will be looking for this passage in the Platform: "The stranger who dwells among you shall be to you as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God." (Leviticus 19). The in Leviticus 23, "When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field of gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner residing among you." Also in Leviticus is the reminder, "You shall have the same law for the foreigner and for the native born."
I'm so glad Palin has made that clear. I'm so glad the Tea Party will be insisting on it in their platform.
