If anyone ought to be sued it is this do-nothing congress.

The main focus of congress has been to make sure that the President doesn't get to accomplish any of his agenda, even it is something they might support from anyone else.

If this were about winning a lawsuit, Mr. Boehner would simply have filed it. This is all about politics and endless statements to the 24-hour news cycles. He is simply trying to get publicity. The whole thing is a disingenuous politics at its worst.

It's been an interesting year, from a political perspective. I love it when one of the GOP extremists opens their mouth and inserts their foot, but when Boehner, Lindsay Graham or John McCain are caught up in the same babble, it's hard to stop the belly laugh that develops. Meanwhile, unemployment continues to drop, and will be below the 7% threshold prior to November, as the economy kicks up and is adding over a quarter of a million new jobs a month. Domestic oil production now exceeds what we buy from foreign sources. The stock market is as high as it has ever been, and the dollar is as strong as it has ever been in foreign markets. Insurance company stocks have soared since the ACA was enacted, and more people now have health coverage than ever before. Fewer people are entering the country illegally than at any time since 1999, and more illegals are being caught and deported than during the Bush years. The deficit spending in the budget has been halved. And all of that has been done in spite of the do-nothing Republican house.

Considering the box of rocks and horse pucky Barack Obama had to start with when he took office, I think he is doing very well. As for congress, my father had a rather colorful expression he sometimes used on me- "If I caught you doing that I would kick your butt till it got stuck between your ears." The vision of trying to walk in that condition would get us both laughing. It is a very good thing I live so far from Washington D.C. By the time the government shut down earlier this year I was so disgusted with a number of members of congress I would have been tempted to visit their offices and do a lot of butt kicking myself. Not to mention a number of TV commenters (calling them journalists is an insult to the craft). Haruo really needs to keep a leash on me sometimes. I am not the peaceable person he is.

Most of us just do not understand the system. Any time the GOP/TP, bends the rules on executive power it is the right thing to do and good for the country (the rich side of it anyway), but when Dems do it, it is wrong, un-American, socialist, etc.

I remember the 1960 presidential campaign quite clearly. The big disagreement was over who the bad guys were. Depending on the party the kid you asked's dad was rooting for, Kennedy (according to GOP-leaning dads' kids) or Nixon (according to Dem-oriented dads' kids), if elected, was going to make us go to school on Saturday.

When we were in Japanese public schools, we did have to go to school (albeit not all day) on Saturday. And they didn't even have our parties; their conservative party was called the Liberal Democrats. How very inscrutable of them.

I think some parents would vote to get kids to school on Saturday so they'd not have to keep track of them" Why do you think the Sunday School on the little Navy base I taught 3&4th graders in was so popular? A bus went around base housing picking the kids up - I never saw any of the parents. They were sleeping in while the kids were gone.
