The extremist right wing dee-jay radio announcers are gearing up to defend this pathetic position, though by and large, Christian faith is only something they use when it is convenient. When its principles actually get in the way, and don't lend themselves to supporting the extremist right wing agenda, they usually dismiss them as not being important, ignore them altogether, or twist it out of shape into something they can use. And unfortunately, most Christians do not know their own faith well enough to realize that advocating the physical torture of anyone, regardless of the reason for it, is totally and completely contrary to anything Jesus modeled or taught. I'm having trouble finding "Waterboard your enemies" in the Bible.
Individuals of Sarah Palin's ilk are the main reason why the Republicans are not gaining any poll traction in an election year in which they should be comfortably ahead. The one good thing that she might actually do is say something really stupid at a time when people will remember it before they go in the voting booth. She has a knack for driving voters over to the other side.
