Is there a difference between SBC and Family Research Council. Wasn't that Pressler's goal in concert with Karl Rove to make them one for mobilizing for the Christian Right? That being the case here is the real story, the Fox News, Tea Party ralley. On that point Bob Allen's hunches are correct

Thanks Stephen for bringing up this national conversation. I’ll try and make it to see but it does not look pretty (and I already feel for slaves).
Robertson’s racial insensitivity is appalling. And his comments about homosexual acts are crude and GQ should have edited that out.
That said he has a right to give his opinion, but he should not be surprised if he is suspended, made a mockery of by some, or celebrated as national hero to some. The fact that the Family Research Council backs him is not surprising. This whole thing may have been orchestrated to increase ratings () and/or rev up racial, homophobic, and culture war tensions.
If Robertson thinks he is being Christian stating his opinions, he is certainly wrong. Jesus broke through all ethnic, gender, lifestyle differences with a message of love particularly to those who were most marginalized for “sin". Jesus did have strong words for the self-righteous but I believe He did so in hope of their recovery. So here's hoping that Robertson will spend more time in prayer sorting out his attitudes and less time in watching national reaction/defending his words/conflict promotion.
