It seems that the community involved has had several shootings involving teenaged gunmen. That looks like it might be the beginning of a problem given the ready access to guns and the kind of drama that is whipped up by social media and other influences. If background checks and registration had been required in Oklahoma, we wouldn't be discussing this murder. We'll see how much evidence comes out of this. My guess is that they'll plea bargain.

"Lynching" is a term not restricted to hanging. The Moore's Ford murders are routinely called lynching even though the victims were gunned down.

I think technically gunning folks down is called "neo-lynching" to distinguish it from "classic lynching", which is by rope to the neck until daid.

"Racial profiling" involves the presumption of a likelihood of guilt based on race.
