A correct usage of the term “Pro-Life” would involve . Please read but for those of you who won’t read it and the nuances therein, here is the list (some of my comments in parentheses)
1. You cannot support, advocate for, or participate in war (defensive measures are fine, it’s aims are to save lives).
2. You cannot support the death penalty (period).
3. You cannot support unrestricted gun rights (restricted rights OK, but even that is not for me).
4. You cannot use dehumanizing language (this includes the demonization of people for political ends; I have no idea what his “R word” is- Republican?).
5. You cannot oppose healthcare for all (period).
6. You cannot hold anti-immigrant sentiments or support oppressive immigration policies (the sentiments are the key).
7. You cannot oppose gender equality (period).
8. You cannot advocate, support, or passively tollerate economic policies which oppress the poor, minorities, or any other marginalized group (includes unregulated capitalism).
9. You cannot oppose a livable, minimum wage.
10. You cannot support unrestricted, elective abortions, after the age of viability (I’d make the line earlier than viability).
I love this “Formerly Fundie” and his website. Benjamin Corey is his name and is his back story.
And I’ll add to his list:
11. You cannot support the defiling of the earth which supports life (this includes emissions of ghgs)
12. You cannot support euthanasia (even when asked to by a suffering person)
13. You must not take your own life (except to save the lives of others or in social justice protests)
This is not to be thought of as the end-all of all Christian instruction, but deals with public matters of life or death. Relationships with God (walk humbly), being redemptive/encouraging to all people (love mercy), and making life more fair to all (do justice, bring on the Kingdom of God on earth) are in addition.
