...on the election of the philandering adulterer, Mark Sanford, as your new Congressman. You have taken hypocrisy to new heights, and have elevated politics over morality in a way that completely undermines Republican positions related to social issues.

How many Christian supporters of the Republican party will now see through the whole charade, and realize they've been both deceived and mocked, and that they are only valued for the votes they can deliver, not their values or moral position, remains to be seen. There will be some. I doubt, because of the inertia of money and the unwillingness of the right wing and Christian media to be honest, that there will be much change. But there will be an erosion of support, and some Christians and churches might actually get back to the business of the church, and drop the political facade.

I don't recall ever trying to justify Clinton in any way. Seems to me, Sanford just wants to pretend this never happened and say he is now the "family values" guy. Clinton at least didn't try to bring God into his actions.
