Open appeal to John Pierce and Underwood re CFA/Dream Act

Postby Stephen Fox » Thu May 02, 2013 6:19 am

Ga 1st congressman Jack Kingston name bubbled up on Morning Joe today re the GOP strategy to weaken President Obama. Cynically it seems some Tea party and leaning Republicans--Billy Graham's Trey Gowdy at FBC Spartanburg--are willing to let immigration reform unravel to weaken Obama

Likely more noble than Kingston or Gowdy is Chic Fil A mentored SC Senator Tim Scott who the Washington Journal named as one of 8 key Senators likely to tank immigration reform if it goes down. Will be interesting to see how that pawn on the chessboard is played if the Journal hunches play out.

Here is what Suzii Paynter, Mercer President Underwood and John Pierce can do.

They can act now to show Baptist leadership have learned something since ML Kings letter from the Bham Jail.

For starters Pierce can call Dan Cathy at Chic Fil A and post a blog next week defining where Chic Fil A now is regard the Dream Act as a path to Citizenship. IS CFA holding fast to theri 2006 position endorsing the Dream Act.

That would have major ripples through FBC Spartanburg where www.ginnybrant.com has been an active member until not long ago. Ginny served as trustee of IMB while Dan Cathy's bro in law was a VP.

Truett Cathy for all his conservative politics, stood by Kirby Godsey as Mercer trustee when the fundies were on the prowl in the heyday of Ga state convention machinations.

Chic Fil A can stand up and send a clear message to Jack Kingston, Ginny Brant, Trey Gowdy and Tim Scott. A multitude of Hispanic children have earned their citizenship by scholarship and character in America's public school system. Come to Collinsville Alabama and witness the soccer team.

Will Pierce, Underwood and Paynter act soon?

The Clock is ticking.

What is Marshall Frady thinking?

We can't know for sure as he died in 2004.

But we do have this tribute by Scott Sherman

http://www.cjr.org/second_read/the_unva ... p?page=all

And Doug Cumming who now teaches as Wash/Lee had a tribute last year to Frady in the Furman alum magazine.

Apparently several staffers for key Southern Congressman take journalism classes with Cumming at Wash Lee. I hope when they go home to Ga, Bama and elsewhere they talk to their parents about the Dream Act, authentic Christian witness if infact they are people of faith; Oscar Romero, Rosa Parks,Martin King and others on the Justice Porch of the National Cathedral in D.C.

I have to believe Jesus is Watching, Waiting and Tenderly Calling. And I have to believe for legislators on this issue if they claim faith His call should override the Tea Party or their soul may be in danger of HellFire for eternity; or in that column with Bull Connor,Roberto Daubuisson, Lester Maddox and Jesse Helms in the judgment of History. Pray for the congregation of FBC Spartanburg S.C. that they may bear witness to Trey Gowdy, and Episcopalians in Ga 1st who worship with Jack Kingston; and double up on prayer for Jeff Sessions as Bishop Willimon continues to witness to him; and Scott Beason and Gov Bentley in Alabama to have guidance from Gen Krulak at Bham Sthrn College and Coach NickSaban's priest at St. Francis Catholic Church in Tuscaloosa.
