ET: The "Christian" values of the majority population of colonial America were a miserable failure: Baptists and other minority Christian dissenters were beaten, whipped, jailed, waterboarded, dynamited, stoned, and even executed under majority "Christian" values. Baptists, with their own blood, championed not the religious (or secular) values of the majority or minority, but rather pluralism, diversity, freedom of conscience for all, religious liberty for all, and church and state separation.
These are the values that our Baptist forefathers contributed to American government, society and culture. They are as important today as they were hundreds of years ago.
