My reply to David Gushees ABP 15 ??s for the Candidates

I admire David for these thought provoking questions. Obama hasn't been a perfect president but the greater fault lies with Fox News and the Tea Party. And the Teacher's Unions have failed in Alabama. Take a look at the Birmingham City District which raises some thorny matters where Race is just under the surface. Its a mess worthy of the concerted efforts of Condi Rice and Colin Powell and I'm not sure even they could fix it.

But the weight of the blame for our mess lies with the Tea Party and Fox News. Not to be partisan but Elizabeth Warren and Bob Kerrey in their CSpan debates make that clear. The loss of the SBC to fundamentalism is major too as Dan Williams spells out in Gods Own Party

Jeff Faux has written The Servant Economy. And Norm Ornsteins hr long interview on the Diane Rehm show is easily googled.

David Gushee can answer a lot of his own questions. In realpolitik it is justifiable to call for an unseating of the Tea Party while the Goodwill Baptists who met in the White House place leverage on PresidentObama to address virtuously the matters Gushee raises above.

oh2props

trying to widen this discussion to a progressive Mormon; taking the conversation where it should go. See Sara Powell's post this morning at www.ethicsdaily.com and on that site my reservations.
