Gaffney South Carolina and the Age of Trump

Gaffney is my hometown from 62-78. Read my blog, lot of references to Gaffney

Gaffney Native WJ Cash is spotlighted in Hoschild's National Book Award nominee Strangers in their Own Land. Cash was prescient in 41 almost predicting the Age of Trump we are now in. Oil is the New Cotton on the Plantation is the Upshot of Hoschild's exegesis of Cash. Helms Cotton and tobacco fields have turned into Paul Pressler's political and financial windfall just as they prayed all along in the fundamentalist takeover of the Southern Baptist Convention.

It is my understanding Cash was baptized in the Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church in Gaffney, a poster child for Union Seminary NYC explorations like Millhands and Preachers; you know Union, where Bonhoeffer and Myles Horton studied and Niebuhr taught. My God no Wonder Helms and Pressler were concerned. They could not allow Randall Lolley to imagine such insights for North Carolina. And They didn't and Trump wins!
