Just because a particular organization rents a church facility for a conference does not lead to the conclusion that one of the church's members specifically endorses it. It is completely irrelevant that Billy Graham is a member of the church whose building is being used for the Life and Liberty conference. You need to be consistent with the Baptist philosophy you express in which no one Baptist speaks for any other Baptist, and apply that to Billy Graham. His membership in FBC Spartanburg constitutes no particular endorsement of any specific church policy, doctrine, or statement.

Among scholars of the evangelical experience in America whom I am convinced would see Sandy's misleading view of priesthood of believer and what's going on with the seminar at FBC Sburg as sophomoric at best ARE:

Cumming whose father was Marshall Frady's boos at Newsweek in the 60s has a jewel of a piece in the fall 2014 Literary Journalism Studies mag about the creation of the Frady 79 bio of Graham. The Bgea fought him over technicalities.

Cumming says Frady found in Graham a "distilled" innocence reflecting the immaturity of post war America that was a danger to the Christian faith.

I heard Billy's grandson Wil preach on TV this morning from 1st Samuel. If tempted you could almost past him off as a polished up bumpkin, but I found myself moved by his humility, honesty, authenticity and love for the Gospel. I hope he read Molly Worthen, but for a moment this morning there was some redemption for his father's network to the Nixon administration and Harry Dent's Southern Strategy.

Mohler tells Wacker Graham much more involved in the fundy takeover of the SBC than Wacker coulda imagined, nor reported.

Graham shyed away from entanglements over inerrancy. Didn't seem to phase Mohler though Mohler's whole career stands on inerrancy, though Mohler says its not the whole story

Mohler says in 93 Graham told him Mohler; Graham made it clear that he expected Moher to stand for inerrancy . And Mohler mentions in 84 and 87 Graham took the fundy side in the SBC takeover. Wacker begs off the significance. Wacker said he never consciously dissimulated.

Wacker says Graham was conservative but didn't want to break fellowship. I think WAcker is naïve. Mohler also pushes the question and suggests Graham more calculating.
