Land a bigot?

I'm not quite ready to join Gene and say Land is a bigot, though I'm no fan of Richard Land.
Over the years I have become less enchanted with Bob Terry good friend of SBC Peace Committee's Charles Pickering. I think Terry was right to take up for Pickering when 60 Minutes tried to name him a bigot; and I think Charles Marsh who knows significantly more about the matter than Gene Scarborough would join me on that.
Here is where we need further investigation from Duke's Curtis Freeman, and Aaron Weaver and Bruce Gourley in conjunction with Chandler Davidson of Rice.
Land is a piece of work, but he has routinely spoken fairly eloquently about Martin King and stood up to Curtis Caine early on.
I am convinced Pressler, Albert Lee Smith, Jesse Helms and some deacon boards that pushed the fundy takeover were bigots. It would be interesting to press Nelson Price on his evolution; and to have Jim Henry weigh in on the matter.
I think Scarborough mighta rushed to judgment on Land; though this is an interesting spotlight for sure
Quite frankly the even the word "rape" falls short when describing actual rape, or in this case the anal penetration of 12 year old boys. The act itself is so horrific, that only a graphic description imports the proper emotional outrage and disgust. But the culture is defined by the immortal words of Vince Lombardi, "Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing". A consistently winning coach does not have one method of motivating. He reads people and figures out what motivates a particular person and uses it. If sex motivates a guy, he gets him sex. If the bible motivates him, he gets him a bible. If a key coach molests little boys, so what as long as he doesn't get caught. The point is to win games. The same amoral immorality applies to winning CEOs. The point is earnings per share. If that meaning cutting wages or polluting a river, so be it. Whatever it takes. That is the essential rot our society faces. The market is about winning, and that is the morality, or ethical code if you will, that more and more governs our society. It corrosives the other moral systems that have traditionally kept cupidity in check.
