Our pastor just heard about the NBC last week (I hadn't mentioned it to her because I figured Evergreen was probably keeping pastors up to date on it, but either they weren't or she wasn't paying attention). Anyhow, she made it a focus of the Pastoral Prayer yesterday, and asked the secretary to put a blurb about it in the bulletin, but the secretary called it the "National Baptist Convention" to the pastor's chagrin and irritation. So we prayed for it.

I'm convinced that leading off with a list of Carter, Clinton and Gore as featured participants is enough to mislead and deter many who might otherwise be very supportive, and those so turned off are not all Republicans. We'd be better off I think listing the supporting organizations than the speakers, when selling the idea to the general Baptist public.
