Concern grows at Furman about Slavery Justice Report

Postby Stephen Fox » Thu Nov 01, 2018 5:46 pm

About 20 former Staff and faculty met for lunch yesterday near Travelers Rest. The Furman Justice report is of concern for some of its unintended consequences and focus.

Quiros Intro has words for secularists

Postby Stephen Fox » Sat Dec 22, 2018 5:35 pm

Fu 08 grad Ansley Quiros introduction is online and should be part of the working conversation of NBCovenant leadership. She had a piece in the Washington Post about two months ago about Southern Baptist Trump voters in Luverne, alabama and made a presentation at Furman about three grads at the heart of the Struggle for Civil Rights in Americus Georgia which is the subject of her new book God With Us, UNC Press.

In this intro she goes deep and wide with some choice nuggets for secularists some suspect to be having undue influence at Furman in the margins of the Abraham report.

Read this intro carefully; Buy the book.

And yes, RVaughn, that's the report. One highlight is in the chat, the page with a picture of Bill Leonard where it talks about grace and need for context especially with Richard Furman for while he bent wrongly on slavery, his passion for priesthood of the believer could be part of the redemption of aspects of his legacy. Maybe he had more integrity then than Al Mohler does now.

Is white silence, violence?

Great piece here in the Atlantic.

Do you throw Jesus out with third wave anti racism

Atlantic says it won't work.

This goes long way toward the concerns I was trying to express in the rollout of the Furman initiative in October.
