Robinson conversation with Obama

Also the ESPN 30/30 doc on the Duke Lacrosse Nifong case. I saw it for the first time over the weekend.

All participants should be well versed in the Robinson/Obama chat and the Nifong doc as they have tremendous implications for the current chat on Race. That and Ga Gov Roy Barnes reminder Lee Atwater schemed to have a choice for every southerner between a Black Democrat and a White Republican when they entered the voting booth. Lot of real politik ethical deliberation on all three of these items.

Again I think Sandy and William are too cavalier in their dismissal of the Covenant aspirations.

In my experience the January 31 2009 event in Birmingham Alabama with President Carter and Marian Wright Edelman was a personal highlight of my Baptist experience, way up there in the Top Ten. I may blog those top ten soon cause I'm sure Thornton and Jerry Vines will want to see them.

And to have Mark Wilson of the Auburn University Living Democracy Project on panel with say Edelman will that will get close to home connecting Gaffney to Collinsville. And don't forget Karl Barth himself after stoking Bonhoeffer on the concept of syncharein (greek), spent a year in the parish in a working class "textile" district of Berlin. If I have the opportunity to share the sermon with my Dad's home church, Bethany, in Gaffney it could go viral. Will blog for Thornton as I doubt he makes the congregation on that occasion if it happens.

And God as my witness I did try to get him set up for a Revival series in Collinsville a few years back with his kind of Baptists, who happen to be my friends even though they vote wrong on about every political decision I can imagine except for the local school board race.
