John Grisham explains himself

I think he did a fine job on a "creepy" subject.

His fear of hysteria is warranted these days.

For sure Grisham, like Bill Clinton has the high ground on matters of more grave concern like the Tom Powers review of Texas Baptists in the October 9 print issue of www.nybooks.com than neurotic fundy women of the Phyliss Schlafly stripe who never let matters of the flesh however sick, get by without doing a little more for the Bircherss and the Shite Citizens Council and Pressler's tax breaks for the oil companies or the fundamentalist takeover of the Southern Baptist Convention.

As Frank James said to Robert Ford, I like you,"But you don't have the ingredients" to adjudicate the placement of my topics. Our CBF friend KeithE has the same inadequacy on occasion.

That said I appreciate you answering the "Call" to moderate.

John Grisham was a featured speaker in Atlanta Inaugural Convocation of the Covenant.

Thus must appropriate to place it at the Covenant site for Bruce Gourley to monitor rather than some forum where I live in fear you or Keithe may cavalierly or in a case a dimsittedness may delete my brilliance or create other havoc or dumbdownedness for our audience in the Baptist world!

I too believe Grisham did a fine job and there is really no need for him to apologize.

We have a young man from a very good Christian family whose wife turned him in for viewing child pornography with some of his military friends - none of which other than him were punished. I don’t know how frequently he visited but there is no thought given to him ever touching a child inappropriately.

Anyway his life is essentially ruined at age ~35. Divorced, lost all money and assets, tossed out of the service, served some time in prison (don’t know how long), currently lives in a dump with another in like situation, cannot get employment other than some house repair from church members eager to help him (my wife wants him to do some work at our house soon). I feel for him. He comes to our church - worship time only. And his parents also face a slowly dying ALS son-on-law age about 40.

Whatever happened to forgiveness??

I have no idea why William moved this to the NBC Forum other than perhaps Grisham spoke there once.

This is a good public policy subject...nothing to do with NBC. I thought it might get more exposure there but I have done anything.

I understand Bruce Gourley to be the moderator of this forum.

But thinks for the momentary oxygen, William. I appreciate it.

The 69 Gaffney Sburg football project is coming along nicely. the Presbyterian minister's son of the class of 70 who got his doc in rhetoric from MIT after undergrad at Clemson has weighed in. The pressure is on me to do the matter justice.

And William check out the public facebook wall of Guntersville Alabama radio WTWX. I got a teaser up there. Easiest if you just enter WTWX. Lot of chat about the Wildcats.

Again, I’ll repeat, whatever happened to forgiveness?

12 Verses
Forgiveness is not some minor theme in Jesus’s teaching. I understand that repentance is required, but in today’s mindset, there is little chance for societal forgiveness even after prison terms.
